Starter EA Development – Simple MT4/MT5 Trading Robot is designed for traders with a simple, clearly defined strategy who want their trading rules converted into a custom Expert Advisor instead of adapting an off-the-shelf robot.
- Platforms: MT4 / MT5
- Typical scope: basic entry/exit logic, straightforward risk controls and simple rule sets
- Delivery: a focused MT4/MT5 automation project built to the agreed specification
Before requesting a quote, prepare your exact entry rules, exits, timeframe, indicators, position sizing and risk limits. Clear rules help reduce development revisions and make testing more meaningful.
From trading idea to testable EA specification
A simple strategy is a strong fit for this package when each decision can be expressed as an objective rule. Define the exact condition that opens a trade, what prevents an entry, how a position closes, and how position size is calculated. If a rule depends on visual judgement such as “good momentum” or “strong support,” convert it into measurable conditions before development.
Also specify whether signals use the current candle or a completed candle, whether more than one position may be open, which symbols and timeframes are intended, and what should happen after a rejected order or terminal restart. These details reduce ambiguity between the strategy you intend and the EA that is coded.
How should a new MT4 or MT5 EA be tested?
First verify that the software follows the written rules. Then evaluate the strategy separately using historical testing and, where appropriate, demo or forward testing. For MT5, realistic tick data can improve modelling, but testing should also consider the intended broker/account conditions, including spread, commission, slippage and symbol specifications when they matter to the strategy.
Backtests are evidence about historical behaviour, not forecasts. A strategy can behave differently in live conditions because execution latency, liquidity, spread widening and broker rules cannot always be reproduced perfectly in a historical test.
Request this package when its complexity matches your strategy.
Software can automate defined rules, but it cannot guarantee trading profitability.

Frequently asked questions
What do I need before development starts?
Provide clear entry, exit, risk-management and trade-management rules, plus the intended MetaTrader platform, symbols and any indicators or integrations.
What makes a trading strategy ready to automate?
A development-ready strategy should define objective entry and exit conditions, timeframe and symbols, position sizing, stop-loss and take-profit behaviour, maximum simultaneous positions, trading-session rules, and what the EA should do after a terminal restart or rejected order. Broker-specific details such as symbol suffixes, digits, minimum lot and lot step should also be confirmed before testing. If a rule still depends on visual judgement or discretion, define that decision more precisely before coding.
Can you convert my trading strategy into an EA?
Yes, when the strategy can be translated into objective rules and fits the agreed project scope. PMotive uses your written logic as the build specification rather than inventing an undisclosed trading strategy on your behalf.
Can PMotive build for both MT4 and MT5?
The supported platform depends on the selected package and agreed scope. Confirm MT4, MT5 or both before development begins.
Does my broker matter when testing the EA?
It can. Symbol names and specifications, spreads, commissions, slippage, minimum volume, stop levels and execution conditions can differ between brokers or account types. Tell PMotive the intended environment when those differences affect your rules.
Should I backtest before using the EA?
Yes. Verify that the coded behaviour matches the specification, then assess the strategy under relevant historical conditions. Where appropriate, follow this with demo or forward testing before deciding how or whether to use the software in a live environment.
Is source code included?
Source-code delivery depends on the package and agreed scope. Review the package details before payment or request clarification before development starts.
Does a custom EA guarantee that the strategy will be profitable?
No. Development automates defined rules; it does not guarantee profitability, returns, win rate, drawdown or future market performance.
Agree these details before payment
- Build specification: exact entry, exit, indicators, risk inputs and behaviour after rejected orders or terminal restarts.
- Acceptance examples: at least one valid setup, one rejected setup and the expected trade-management behaviour.
- Delivery: platform, compiled files, settings, documentation and source-code terms where applicable.
- Commercial terms: price, payment stages if agreed, delivery schedule, revision limits and support period.
- Testing: how coded behaviour will be checked against your written rules. Trading profitability is not a software acceptance criterion.
For indicators or third-party code, confirm licence permissions and access requirements before the quote is finalised. Never send passwords or API keys in a project brief.
