MT4 & MT5 EA Setup Guides
Use this checklist before running a PMotive Expert Advisor. Exact requirements differ by product, broker and MetaTrader version, so always follow the instructions supplied with the specific EA.
1. Confirm platform compatibility
Check whether the EA is built for MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5. EX4 files run on MT4 and EX5 files run on MT5.
2. Confirm the broker symbol
Broker symbols can vary. Gold may appear as XAUUSD or with a suffix, and indices can use names such as US30, USTEC or broker-specific variants. Confirm that the intended symbol is available.
3. Install on a compatible desktop terminal or VPS
MetaTrader mobile apps are useful for monitoring but do not run desktop EA files directly. Automated strategies generally require the desktop terminal to remain connected, often through a suitable VPS.
4. Apply the correct settings
Use the supplied preset or documented settings where provided. Do not assume settings from one broker, symbol or account size are appropriate for another.
5. Test before live use
Run the system on demo and check symbol mapping, spreads, execution, lot sizing, stop logic and behaviour under your broker conditions before considering live use.
6. Use risk controls
Automated trading can lose money. Keep position size and account exposure within limits you understand, and never treat a broker minimum deposit as a risk recommendation.
